Access Statement for The Albany Guest House - Bath
Our home is set close to the city centre just a 5 minute walk on level ground and offers six guest rooms. The house is late Victorian and is over one hundred years old and whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests there are some period features which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility. There are steps leading to the front of the house and rooms are arranged over three floors and accessed by stairs.There is one room on the ground floor. The large family room has some low ceilings areas within it due to it being within the roof space. Rooms are of varying sizes and most are not suitable for wheelchair users.
We are located on the Upper Bristol Road just off Queen Square, which is one of the main roads into the city from the southwest, and we are 5 minutes by taxi or 15 minutes by foot from Bath Spa railway station and Bath Bus Station. Our location is ideally suited for those travelling with or without a car.
The nearest shops are ~500 yards away on level ground (city centre) and we are ~400 yards from a local supermarket.Being this close to the centre of Bath everything is accessible within a 5-15 minute walk. The nearest bus stop is less than 100 yards away and buses run every few minutes into the city but as we are so close we recommend walking
Allergies & animals
Unfortunately we offer the house to guests with allergies and cannot therefore accommodate any animals, with the exception of assistance dogs. Guests with assistance dogs can only stay in our ground floor family room as it's our only room that provides appropriate facilities. Please contact us direct by email or telephone to make a booking if you wish to bring an assistance dog.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
We have parking for 3 cars on level ground immediately behind the Albany and also 3 cars 50 yards away. Our parking area is well lit. The whole area is very well lit by street lighting.
We welcome our guests at any time, but time of arrival must be stated as part of the booking process to enable us to be here to welcome you.Out of normal hours (after 9pm) is by agreement and facilitated via a key safe.
We offer free assistance with luggage, please ask.
There are two 12-inch steps from the pavement which lead to two 4-inch steps up to the front door. Please pull the “bell pull” to call us.
Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc
All of our accommodation is accessed by stairs from the entrance hallway. There are four bedrooms on the first floor, one bedroom on the second floor and one bedroom on the ground floor. All stairs have hand railing and are well lit.
Breakfast is served in the dining room, which is carpeted throughout.
Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas
Our four bedrooms on the first floor and one bedroom on the second floor are carpeted throughout. We have a ground floor room which has oak flooring.There are en-suite facilities in all rooms (except room one which is private bathroom) consisting of a shower, a WC and a washbasin. Tea and coffee facilities are provided. We also provide a hair dryer in each room. Our beds are normally made with duvets (synthetic). Pillows are a mixture of synthetic and feather but synthetic pillows are available at all times on request. We are happy to provide sheets and blankets if preferred but please make arrangements when booking.
There are fire extinguishers located throughout the property.There is a bell linked to the fire alarm system – please tell us if you have a hearing impairment and might not hear this. The building can be evacuated via the front door. An additional exit is available through the kitchen when we are on site. Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the house or on the premises.
We are happy to cater for special requests including diets and allergies. Please advise us at the time of booking. We are able to refrigerate any medication if required.Hours of operation:We are open throughout the year.
